Amman – On Sunday, June 1, 2025, a Royal Decree was issued, as published in the Official Gazette of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, appointing His Royal Highness Prince Ghazi bin Muhammad, Chief Advisor to His Majesty the King for Religious and Cultural Affairs and His Majesty’s Personal Envoy, as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Baptism Site Commission.
The Royal Decree also included the appointment of the following members to the Board, as a part of the ongoing efforts to support and develop the Baptism Site (Al-Maghtas), which is considered one of the most significant religious and archaeological sites in the Hashemite Kingdom and the world:
- The Minister of Water and Irrigation
- The Minister of Tourism and Antiquities
- The Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs
- Dr. Ahmad Al-Zyadat
- The Director of Public Security
- The Secretary General of the Ministry of Public Works and Housing
- The Secretary General of the Ministry of Culture
- The Secretary General of the Jordan Valley Authority
- The Director General of the Jordan Tourism Board
- The Director of the Department of Antiquities
- Representative of the Jordanian Armed Forces – Arab Army
- Msgr. Iyad Twal, Latin Bishop in Amman
- Greek Orthodox Bishop in Amman
- Mr. Caesar Attallah Al-Dawood
- Engineer Samer Tawfiq Al-Madani
- Mr. Bassem Fouad Farraj
