Foundation Stone Polish Sisters - October 6th 2006

H.B. Patriarch Michael Sabbah laid the first foundation stone of the new orphanage of the Polish Sisters (Sisters of St. Elisabeth), in Bethlehem.

The Congregation of Polish sisters is present in the Holy Land since 1931, the first orphanage was opened in 1967 on the Monte of Olives. Significant for the Sisters was the day on which the celebration took place: the first Friday of the month and October- a month dedicated to Our Lady, both signs of Jesus’ and Mary’s love for the disadvantaged children of the Holy Land.

In the foundation stone, the medals of Secret heart of Jesus and the one of our Lady of Immaculate Conception were laid. Present during the celebration were: Polish Authorities with the head of the office Mr. Piotr Puchta as well as the Palestinian Authorities in persons of Mayor of Bethlehem Mr. Victor Batarseh, Beit Jala Mr. Raji Zedan and Beit Sahour Mr. Hani el Hayek .
