THE VISIT OF H.E. THE GRAND MASTER CARDINAL FOLEY
TO THE HOLY LAND

Day 2: TUESDAY, JANUARY 8TH

H.E. Cardinal Foley has started his day early in the morning with a mass at the Holy Sepulchre Church.

Accompanied by his secretary and Bishop Fouad Twal, he visited the Gethsemane Church. Then they headed to Ramallah in order to meet the Parishes’ Priests of Ramallah, Taybeh, Jifna, Bir Zeit, Aboud , Ain Arik, Zababdeh and Rafidia.

The Parish Priests described the hard circumstances that the churches in the Palestinian territories go through and all the challenges that they face daily as a result of the political situation that makes the future uncertain. They have also thanked the Knights of the Holy Sepulchre for their constant efforts to support the Patriarchate in its pastoral and educational mission.

After lunch, they traveled to Bethlehem district where the Cardinal visited the Nativity Grotto and prayed there.

After that he went to Beit Jala and there he met with the Parishes’ priests of Beit Jala and Beit Sahour, Father Majdi Siryani (the Director of the Patriarchate’s Schools in Palestine), the Rector of Seminary, Fr. William Shomali as well as the educators of the seminary. After the meeting, dinner was served at the Seminary in Beit Jala.
