JORDAN – The General Secretariat of Christian Educational Institutions in Jordan held a ceremony on Thursday, October 13, to honour its teachers who have been working for over 20 years in Catholic-affiliated schools in various parts of the Kingdom.

The ceremony was held under the patronage of Apostolic Administrator of the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem Archbishop Pierbattista Pizzaballa in the presence of Latin Patriarchal Vicar of Jordan Archbishop Maroun Lahham, Custos of the Holy Land Fr. Francesco Patton, a number of priests, school directors, and teachers.

General secretary of Catholic Schools in Jordan Fr. Rashid Mustarih thanked the teachers for their dedication in educating the new generations, for disseminating the Church’s educational mission, and for projecting the sublime educational vision of His Majesty King Abdullah II who devotes great attention to the educational process.

Apostolic Administrator Pizzaballa lauded the great reputation of the Catholic Schools in Jordan. He added: “We are fully aware of the conflagration in our environs, which complicates the situations economically and socially. Amidst the regional violence, destruction and bloodshed, our schools make their way, in cooperation with educational national institutions and with the Ministry of Education in the Kingdom, by presenting cultural, religious and humanitarian education for all students without exception and without any form of discrimination.”

At the end of the ceremony, Archbishop Pizzaballa presented merit gifts to 232 teachers who have been working for over 20 years in 54 well-reputed Catholic-affiliated schools.
