BETHLEHEM – The Sixth Congress of Families was held in Bethlehem at the Grand Hotel from September 1-3, 2017, under the patronage of Jordanian families. The Congress was attended by many families from Jordan, Palestine and Galilee.
Some 80 families participated in the sixth annual conference of families for three days on the critical theme of harmony within the family. During these days of training and intense exchanges, conferences were held in order to deepen the concept of harmony in the couple, both socially and on an emotional level, on the meaning of marriage as it is addressed in the Bible, and on spiritual harmony. Notably present to host the congress included, Msgr. Maroun Lahham, Bishop Emeritus of the Vicariate in Amman, Dr. Minerva Qassis, a professor at the Catholic University of Bethlehem, Dr. Sami Basha, pedagogist and advisor for the Ministry of Education and Father Rafic Nahra, coordinator for Coordination of the Pastoral Among Migrants.
The objective of the conference was also to enable the participating Jordanian families to visit the Holy Places in the Holy Land – the Holy Sepulcher, the Mount of Olives, Gethsemane, the tomb of the Virgin, the Shepherds Field, the Milk Grotto and the Basilica of the Nativity. Pilgrimages were also carried out in Emmaus, Jaffa, Haifa and Nazareth and participants were able to sail the Sea of Galilee.
The congress ended with a Mass in the Basilica of Nazareth.
The next annual conference will be organized under the patronage of the Palestine section and will probably be held in Jordan.
