AUSTRALIA – Bishop G.B. Marcuzzo, Patriarchal Vicar in Jerusalem and Palestine, just departed for Australia and will return on August 12. Objective: to work with the Lieutenants of the Equestrian Order of the Knights of the Holy Sepulcher in promoting the Order in Southeast Asia.
Following the advice of the Grand Master, Cardinal Edwin O’Brien, for the lieutenancies of Australia and Southeast Asia to coordinate their activities, the Sydney lieutenancy decided to act. Led by Judge François Kunc, who organized, for the first time, a spiritual retreat as well as meetings for the coordination and promotion of the Order for all the lieutenants.
Bishop Marcuzzo is representing Archbishop Pizzaballa, Apostolic Administrator of the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem. During his visit, the bishop will “go to bat” during in a spiritual entreaty in Sydney. He will also celebrate various investiture ceremonies in the Sydney, Melbourne, Hobart, Adelaide and Perth lieutenancies before establishing a new section of the Order in the Island of Tasmania.
In coordination with Judge François Kunc, he will participate in meetings with the bishops of the dioceses and will give presentations on the Holy Land to several associations. Finally, his visit will end with a few courtesy visits, where he will meet Mr. Costandi Bastoli, former director of the Jerusalem and Palestine YCS (Young Christian Students), who became the first Lieutenant in Sydney in 1995.
