On Friday, March 3rd, 2023, a spiritual meeting in the Latin Patriarchate school of Shafa’am. It was organized by Mgr Rafiq Nahra, Patriarchal Vicar for Israel, and Fr. Eli Kurzum, the director-general of the schools of the Latin Patriarchate in Israel.
Mgr Nahra gave a lecture for the teachers, which focused on the spiritual lesson’s teachers can acquires from the experience of Jesus in the wilderness. He emphasized that the job of a teacher is different than other jobs, as it has a spiritual side to it. He reminded them of their calling, which is to raise the children not only educate them, to impart to them lessons about life, God, and others.
"The mission of a teacher is not easy, rather it requires effort and struggle, because teachers cannot see the fruit of their work immediately. Therefore, don’t despair; is the lesson you can acquire from Christ’s temptation in the wilderness. The words you sow will continue to grow with the child and will be evident only when he/she matures”, Mgr Nahra said.
Then, the participants were divided into groups, as Fr. Ramiz Twal, moderated a discussion about the characteristics of Christian schools, which acts as a community for the child to be raised properly in grace, wisdom, and stature.
