On August 30th, 2022, about 350 pilgrims from Senegal, accompanied by Mgr Paul Abel Mamba Diatta, bishop of Tambacounda (province of Dakkar, Senegal), came to visit the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem and its co-cathedral. In the absence of His Beatitude Pierbattista Pizzaballa, Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, they were welcomed by Mgr Giacinto-Boulos Marcuzzo, bishop emeritus, who introduced them to the diocese of the Mother Church and to the work of the Patriarchate for local Christians and other communities of the Holy Land. In the name of the Patriarch, Mgr Marcuzzo then offered to Mgr Mamba Diatta a holy cross made of olive wood, as well as a rosary to each pilgrim. The meeting concluded with a prayer inside the co-cathedral, followed by chants.
