Promoting unity and togetherness means putting aside our prejudices and try to find the good in everyone.”

Afaq, from Madaba (Jordan)

Christian unity is something very important to me. I'm part of a Focolare movement in Jordan that calls for unity, and I have attended several conferences centered on Christian unity.

Every year, like all over the world, the church where my family and I attend Masses dedicates a week in January to pray for Christian unity among all Christians worldwide. As someone who believes in the power of prayer, this means a lot to me. And I believe that Christian unity also means having all Christians work for unity, as Jesus prayed - 'May they all be one.' (John 17;21). Promoting togetherness also means putting aside our prejudices and try to find the good in everyone.

Today, I hear of an increasing number of separations within the same church, and I believe that more efforts are needed to stop this phenomenon. We must all work together to strengthen our spirit of unity and brotherhood. Jesus himself prayed for unity. So we too must pray to obtain this grace for all Christians, and I have faith that the Holy Spirit will inspire unity and fosters harmony among us.
