Sr. Virginie Habib: “After 15 years of service at Catechetical office, I find that “I have finished the race, I have kept the faith” Available in the following languages:

INTERVIEW - Sr. Virginie Habib started her work in the office on September 2005; she was assigned by her Congregation the Rosary Sisters of Jerusalem upon a request from the Latin Patriarchate during the time of His Beatitude Michel Sabah. Among the requirements set by the Patriarch at the time; that the assigned nun has to have a successful experience in teaching catechesis for all ages for a period of no less than 8 years and that she holds higher academic degrees in this specialization.

On the occasion of concluding her service as director of the Catechetical office,  the Golden Medal of the Holy Sepulcher was offered to her by the Latin Patriarchate represented by the most reverend Archbishop Pierbattista Pizzaballa, as an expression of their thanks and appreciation to the Order of the Holy Rosary for this service.

We present to you the following interview with her, prepared by the media office of the Latin Patriarchate.

1. In your field of work that has endured for more than 15 years as director of the Catechetical Office, what are the changes and challenges of your work and mission within this office?
There is no work without difficulties and challenges, and every time has its challenges and difficulties, but if we have faith as small as a mustard seed we can move mountains according to what Jesus said in the Holy Gospel. Difficulties and challenges can be overcome, when faith is combined with sincere intentions and good will.

2. Share with us some beautiful memories that you experienced through these long years?
I consider that every activity and every program and event that the office has undertaken is a beautiful memory for me.

You can also view it illustrated with photos through the office link (here) and in the book that was prepared on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of its foundation (the video link), whoever views these resources: teachers, students, priests and nuns, will find a beautiful memory of themselves.

3. What is the next step in serving the Church of Jerusalem?
Until now, I have not been informed by the congregation of my new destination and mission. New transfers usually take place after the Feast of the Assumption, that is, after the 15th of August. But I am ready for any service or mission that the Order may assign me to.

4. If you wanted to give advice or guidance to Father Remon Haddad in his new role in the Catechetical Office, what would it be?
I would like to express my good wishes more than offering advice. I wish Father Remon Haddad success, abundant fruits in his mission and service in the field of catechesis, as well as to continue developing the office's work to a higher level of excellence.

5. Is there anything you want to add at the conclusion of this interview?
On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the office, I want to offer a prayer of thanks and praise to God from whom every good gift comes, for the continuous performance of the mission and services of the office to all Christian schools in Palestine over these years. The book, which was released on this occasion, is a thank you card for everyone who contributed to the success of this mission, as every work and contribution, big or small is carved on its pages with photos and writing.

In conclusion, I pray and hope that the Church of Jerusalem will remain prosperous by the faith of its believers, fortified with love for one another and strong in their belonging to it.
