Tali, from Abu Ghosh

“As long as we are together – with our different languages, calendars, traditions, cultures, and backgrounds – we should perceive the diversity of our different Churches as a richness and a positive aspect of our common faith in Christ.”

Tali, from Abu Ghosh

"Christian unity is vital for each member of that big family called Christendom. Division into rites is for me a result of history and a sort of fact, which should not make us forget how much we have in common. Whether we belong to the Catholic, the Orthodox, the Protestant or any other church, we are still one family who believe in God, Emmanuel, who stands with us and supports us. As long as we are together – with our different languages, calendars, traditions, cultures, and backgrounds – we should perceive the diversity of our different Churches as a richness and a positive aspect of our common faith in Christ.

And Christian unity is for me much more than a simple theological aspect; it provides huge advantages for minorities, who can sometimes face difficulties and persecutions, especially here in the Holy Land and the Middle-East in general. Our togetherness is vital to keep going both as Christians and simply as people facing the evils and hardships of everyday life. If we stand united, we’ll truly be the body of Christ, and we’ll be able to fulfill what He asked of us; 'Love each other as I have loved you' (John 15:12)."
