The Assembly of Catholic Ordinaries of the Holy Land congratulates H.E. Archbishop-Elect Moussa El-Hage * on his election to the Maronite Arch-eparchial Chair of Haifa and the Holy Land, and Patriarchal Exarchate of Jerusalem, Palestine and Jordan.

Excellency,

On hearing the news of your election to the Maronite Arch-eparchial Chair of Haifa and the Holy Land and Patriarchal Exarchate of Jerusalem, Palestine and Jordan, the Catholic Ordinaries of the Holy Land, with their President, H.B. Patriarch Fouad Twal, express their great satisfaction and joy for the trust which you have been given by the Holy Father and the Patriarchal Synod.

The Holy Land is a familiar location to you. Some of us remember your stay in Jerusalem at the time of your studies at the “Studium Biblicum Franciscanum” and of the interest that even then you showed for the life of the Church in the Holy Land. We also know that the Maronite clergy esteem you. This forms a base that will allow us to work together, united and in communion, to always remain, despite everything, “faithful to Christ, co-responsible in the Church, witnesses in Society.”

We dare to hope that you will attend our next general meeting in Bethlehem on September 11 – 12.
In anticipation of welcoming you to the Holy Land, we wish you with all our heart a good spiritual preparation that will dispose you to receive the grace of the episcopate.
