TEL AVIV – On Saturday, May 13, 2017, hundreds of faithful gathered for the Feast of Our Lady Woman of Valor with Mass celebrated by the Apostolic Nuncio in Israel, Archbishop Giuseppe Lazzarotto at Our Lady Woman of Valor Pastoral Center for Migrants in Tel Aviv.
More than 300 faithful and religious from the four corners of the Holy Land attended the Mass presided by Archbishop Lazzarotto and concelebrated by Bishop Marcuzzo, Patriarchal Vicar in Israel, Father David Neuhaus, Patriarchal Vicar for Hebrew-speaking Catholics and a number of priests, to celebrate the Feast of Our Lady of Valor. Father David began by thanking all those present, including the delegation of the Philippine Embassy led by the Consul General Pamela Durian-Bailon. He also recalled that the Holy Father, Pope Francis, was visiting Fatima at the same time, to mark the 100th anniversary of the apparitions of Our Lady.
The celebration was the scene of many testimonies of joy and thanksgiving for Blessed Mary and her role among the faithful in southern Tel Aviv. The Apostolic Nuncio particularly emphasized the importance of rejoicing with Mary during this Easter period.
The animation of the Mass, in turn, provided a great multicultural moment. A diversity in music and songs presented by various communities: Filipinos, Indians, Sri Lankans and the Ge’ez rite community. Similarly, the readings and prayers of the faithful took place in different languages, including Hebrew and Arabic. The food provided at the meal, again presented by each of the communities, allowed everyone to dive a little more into their local culture starting with the Philippines, India, Sri Lanka and even Eritrea.
