NAZARETH - Please find below the prayer that the Major Seminarians of the Latin Patriarchal Seminary of Jerusalem offered to the Virgin Mary, Our Lady of the Annunciation, which was recited during the Holy Mass for the Solemnity of the Annunciation of the Lord, on Wednesday, March 25, 2020, in the Grotto of the Annunciation Basilica.

Prayer to the Virgin Mary, Our Lady of the Annunciation

March 23, 2020

In your humility, Blessed Virgin Mary, you provide us with a good example of one who loves God and serves humanity. Your willingness caused you to rise up quickly to serve your relative Elizabeth with joy, forgetting your own worry and pain. Help us to remember that Christ is present in us truly as He was in you so that we may serve those around us despite our worries and sufferings.

Your "Yes" to God’s providential plan brought us life like a song from the depths of your heart in which God’s love and the love of mankind have met. O Mother, you who gave your life for the advent of Salvation into the world, teach us to be open to God’s love will and to follow Him.

O Virgin, we place ourselves under the mantle of your maternal protection, protect us from every disease spreading on the face of this earth. Watch over us and keep us safe from everything that threatens our wellbeing. We beseech God through your intercession to keep our diocese safe from all harm. We ask the Heavenly Father to pour down upon us his Holy Spirit so that they may thrive in peace, grace and the attainment of holiness. We pray that the vineyard of the Lord will be sent servants who carry out their mission with love and selfless devotion and that you will give those servants the grace necessary to empower the people God to do the work they are called to do.

O Blessed Virgin take us by the hand to Nazareth, so that we each may chant the Magnificat proclaiming “Let it be done to me according to your word”. And in these words, O daughter of Galilee, let us express the fruit of our living faith.

Mary we beseech you to intercede for us when you hear our prayers, help us to become what we pray, and protect us from all evil. Like the paralytic, we have grown powerless under the weight of this pandemic, we beseech you to plead for our healing as the companions of the paralytic pled to Jesus. Intercede for us before the throne of the Lord, who granted the healing of the paralytic by the forgiveness of his sins. You patiently waited for God's plan to be fulfilled and you contemplated all things in the silence of your heart, help us to be patient and aware of the Divine will now and forever. We make this prayer, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
