Apostolic Administrator receives Austrian Delegation at Latin Patriarchate

JERUSALEM – An official delegation of the Land Tyrol from Austria visited the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem, Thursday, November 8, 2018, where they had an audience with His Excellency Archbishop Pierbattista Pizzaballa, Apostolic Administrator of the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem. Their visit to the Holy Land was a planned pilgrimage in remembrance of the November pogroms.

Among the delegation, Mr. Ünther Platter, Governor of Tyrol; Sonja Ledl-Rossman, President of the Tyrolean Parliament; Ingrid Felipe, Vice-Governor of Tyrol and Günther Lieder, President of the Jewish religious community in Austria were present.

During the meeting, Archbishop Pizzaballa answered the delegation’s various questions and presented the different realities of the Holy Land from the perspective of the Latin Patriarchate. In conclusion of the visit, the group presented a gift to the Apostolic Administrator.

The pilgrimage trip included various visits to historical and religious places such as Jaffa, Old City of Jerusalem, where they visited the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, Western Wall and others sites. They also held a Mass in the Austrian Hospice, a property that they support.

During their pilgrimage, the delegation had also met with Holocaust survivors of Austria, Deputy Minister in the Prime-Ministers Office, and visited Peres Center for Peace/Israel Innovation Center and Yad Vashem.
