NAZARETH - On March 24, 2021, on the eve of the Solemnity of the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary, His Beatitude Pierbattista Pizzaballa, Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, made his solemn entrance in Nazareth and the Basilica of the Annunciation.

Once arrived in Nazareth, the Patriarch, along with Bishop Boulos Marcuzzo, was first welcomed at the Durr Hall by some members of the Pastoral Council, Parish Priest of Nazareth Fr. Marwan Di’des and the Durr family.

The Patriarchate convoy then headed to St. Anthony Center for a moment of fraternal exchange before they participated in a procession, accompanied by a number of priests, Religious men and women, the parishioners of Nazareth, and the Scouts of the parish, to the Basilica of the Annunciation. A short prayer presided over by Patriarch Pizzaballa took place in the Grotto of the Annunciation, the humble cave where the Virgin received the announcement of the Angel Gabriel. After a short but warm exchange of greetings, all went to the Upper Basilica for the celebration of solemn Vespers.
