JERUSALEM - For several weeks now, volunteers and religious have been working hard to make June 18, 2022 an exceptional day in one of the most beautiful archaeological sites in the Holy Land, Saint Anne of Jerusalem, within the Old City, a few meters from the Lions' Gate.

Last year, when the pandemic seemed never to end, the Friendship Day, organized at the Abbey of St. Mary of the Resurrection in Abu Gosh on June 5, 2021, brought together some fifteen religious communities and allowed them to present their crafts to a thousand people. For all, exhibitors and visitors alike, this day was above all an opportunity for a joyful encounter, full of hope, overturning all clichés. The exhibiting communities had then been supported with their presence the Christmas Bazaar organized at the House of Abraham on November 27, 2021 for the benefit of the women of Silwan.

The second edition of the Day of Friendship with the religious communities of the Holy Land, organized on June 18th, 2022 at Saint Anne's Church in the Old City of Jerusalem, will be hosted by the Missionary Fathers of Africa and more than 40 religious communities from all over the Holy Land will be represented. For more information, kindly clic here !

From 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm a "monastic market" will offer religious and liturgical objects, but also dozens of natural products such as olive oil, jams, sweets, limoncello, fruit syrup, Latroun wine, ceramics, old photos... a thousand opportunities to please and to encounter ! During different workshops, the Sisters will show how to decorate ceramics, make ornamented candles or olive wood rosaries. A workshop will also be dedicated to the reading of icons.

Throughout the afternoon, the White Fathers, Missionaries of Africa, will propose guided tours of the site, which includes the medieval church and the ancient pools of Bethesda, mentioned in the Gospels. In the Church, world-renowned for its acoustics, two free concerts are scheduled and the holy services of None (Byzantine rite) and Vespers (Latin rite) will also be sung. Bishop William Shomali, Vicar General of the Latin Patriarchate for Jerusalem and Palestine, will preside over the Vespers service, at 5:30 p.m.

Above all, the Organisation Committee aims to allow the encounter of these communities, who have so much to share, with the inhabitants of the Holy Land, for whom they pray every day.

You are already in their hearts, they want to tell it to you on June 18th, 2022 at Sainte Anne. Please spread the word, come numerous !
