ABOUD - Sunday 9th, Mgr Pierbattista Pizzaballa, Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, went to Aboud to celebrate the Theophany at the church of Our Lady of Seven Sorrows.
It was the first time Mgr Pizzaballa visited the parish. He celebrated the Mass alongside Mgr William Shomali, General Vicar and Patriarchal Vicar for Jerusalem and Palestine and Father Davide, Chancellor of the Latin Patriarchate, as well as Father Remon Haddad, the Parish Priest of Aboud. Celebrating the baptism of Jesus Christ, Mgr Pizzaballa asked the faithful during his homily if Jesus was continually present in their lives and urged them to always include the Lord in their desires and expectations.
After the Mass, His Beatitude Pizzaballa and his delegation shared a moment of conviviality with the faithful but also with the Orthodox priest of the village, who wished to express his affection towards the Catholic Christian community. The Patriarch then visited Christian families who had sick members among them to give them communion. It was the occasion to discuss over a cup of coffee with some of the parishioners, who were able to meet the Patriarch for the first time.
