VATICAN - Pope Francis has asked all the pastors and faithful of the Catholic Church, on May 21, 2021, to unite themselves spiritually in praying for peace in the Holy Land during the Pentecost Vigil service, which will take place at the Basilica of Saint Stephen of the Dominican Fathers in Jerusalem, on May 22.

This request by Pope Francis comes after the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, in the name of Catholic Ordinaries of the Holy Land and together with the Episcopal Committee for Male Religious and the Union of the Women Religious, had invited the faithful to pray for urgent intercessions for justice and peace in light of the troubled times that people are living in Jerusalem, Gaza, and the rest of the Holy Land.

"My thoughts turn to the events taking place these days in the Holy Land" said the Pope today at the end of his address to new non-resident Ambassadors accredited to the Holy See. "I thank God for the decision to halt the armed conflicts and acts of violence, and I pray for the pursuit of paths of dialogue and peace."
