NAZARETH – As usual, the Christian community of Nazareth celebrated with the Salesian Family in Nazareth the feast of Saint John Bosco on Sunday, February 5, 2017 in the Basilica of Jesus the Adolescent in the presence of many faithful.
The feast of the apostle of youth, Saint John Bosco, is an unmissable event every year in this church dedicated to Jesus the Adolescent in Nazareth, for both the Salesians and the faithful of the region.
In his homily, Msgr. Marcuzzo, Patriarchal Vicar in Israel, alluded to the “New Year’s” special message that the Rector Major given on January 1, 2017, to his Salesians. The message was entitled “We are a family; each house, a school of life and love”. The message was set against the backdrop of the Exhortation Amoris laetitia, in which the Christian family is presented according to the thought and experience of St. John Bosco.
The bishop then went on to remind us how the Christian family is able to reconcile biblical idealism with the most realistic demands of the family and how only the principles of the Christian family are able to overcome, to be bigger than and include the many current contradictions and challenges, “challenges to transform into opportunities”. How? “By a compassionate love of accompaniment and an empathic love of discernment and integration,” said Monsignor Marcuzzo, appealing to “make all our structures and communities true families that enjoy the same virtues and potentialities as the natural family wanted by God”.
