NAZARETH – On Friday, March 24, 2017, took place the second round of the Bible Contest for adults, presented by the Annunciation Family Club of the Latin parish at the St. Anthony Pastoral Center in Nazareth and presided by Archbishop Pierbattista Pizzaballa.
As usual for this contest, the participants competed as a duo, sometimes in pairs or in groups of two siblings, two friends, two partners, adults 40 years and older.
The main biblical subjects were: Famous Characters of the Bible, Jesus’ miracles, Parables of the Gospel, Great biblical events, sanctuaries and Holy Places.
Some marial musical intervals were provided by the singing of Adlen Essa, between the two parts of the evening, in the frame of the feast of Annunciation.
The participants were from different Churches: George Haddad and Philip Zarqa, from the Melkite Church of Jesh; Samir Khoury and Hanna Nasser, from the Maronite church of Nazareth, who won the round. The second duo was composed of Amal Jabbour with Mary Tuma (80 years old), from the Anglican Church of Nazareth, and of Dahoud Ateek, from the Latin church, with Sami Mahli, from the Orthodox Church Nazareth, who won the selection.
The jury was ensured by Charbel Banna and Sr. Maysa Issaq, replacing Fr. Abboud Zaher and Dr. Shadi Abu Khadra. The presenter of the evening was the radio speaker Mr. Fehmi Farah.
The second round of the Bible contest was presided by Archbishop Pierbattista Pizzaballa, Apostolic Administrator of the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem, accompanied by Bishop Giacinto-Boulos Marcuzzo and Fr. Amjad Sabbara.
A large audience of around two hundred followers came to watch the competition and support the candidates, as well as some priests and nuns. Archbishop Pizzaballa and Fr. Amjad Sabbara, Mr. Nabil Totry were invited to speak.
