AMMAN – On Thursday, October 26, 2017, Cardinal Anders Arborelius of Stockholm visited Our Lady of Peace Center, a center dedicated to the care of young children with disabilities.
Cardinal Anders Arborelius, whom Pope Francis made the first Scandinavian Cardinal in history at the last consistory on June 28, 2017, visited Our Lady of Peace Center. This rehabilitation center run by the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem, provides free care to children aged 5 to 14 with physical or mental disabilities. The Cardinal, accompanied by Monsignor Mauro Lalli, the new counselor at the Apostolic Nunciature in Amman, as well as Mr. Wael Souleyman, the director of Caritas, were welcomed by Fr. Shawki Baterian, the director of the center.
During his visit, the Cardinal meet with the patients and the staff of the center. He stopped particularly in the prostheses and orthotics department. This department, the most recent at the center, offers free services, especially to victims of the war in Syria or Iraq, who have lost a body part.
