Object: Election of the Presbyteral Council
Dear Brothers in Christ,
may the Lord give you peace!
With the present letter, as was previously and informally communicated by the Chancellery, I hereby convoke aII Diocesan priests and all Parish priests (including Religious) for Election of the Presbyteral Council in its twofold presence in Amman and Jerusalem.
In Jerusalem, the election shall take place on Monday, September 7th at the Latin Patriarchate. In Amman, the election shall take place on Tuesday, September 8th at the Latin Vicariate.
In Jerusalem the election shall be presided by me, unless there are external issues. In Amman, H. E. Mons. Iyad Twal, shall preside, due to my inability to be present in person.
Elections shall be held in accordance with art. 1-47 of the Statutes of the Presbyteral Council.
This is an important step, which renews the make-up of the Council and of the various organisms foreseen by Canon Law for the life of the Diocese. It is good that the elections be held in a context that is serene and according to the Law
I invite all priests of the Latin Patriarchate, all priests whose Fidei Donum status is regular, and all Parish Priests, to be present and to participate in this moment.
This is not simply the fulfillment of a canonical obligation, but an important step in the ordinary life of our Diocese.
