On Friday, August 7, 2026, the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem organized a training course for its staff entitled “Ethics: Between Right and Right” at the Tantur Ecumenical Institute in Jerusalem, under the supervision of Mr. Jubran Said.
The training forms part of the Patriarchate’s ongoing commitment to the professional and personal development of its staff, while fostering a workplace grounded in ethical responsibility and Christian values. The session explored the meaning and importance of ethics in daily life and professional settings, with particular attention to the challenges of discerning between two seemingly right choices when facing complex situations and decisions.
During the training, Msgr. William Shomali, Patriarchal General Vicar, delivered a reflection on ethics from a Christian and Church perspective. He highlighted the importance of bringing Christian values into the workplace and emphasized that every employee contributes to the Church’s mission through integrity, responsibility, and faithful service.
The session was also attended by Mr. Johnny Zeidan, the newly appointed General Director of the Latin Patriarchate’s administration, and Mr. Sami El-Yousef, the former CEO.
The training provided an opportunity for participants to reflect on ethical questions they may encounter in their professional responsibilities, exchange experiences, and engage in dialogue on how values and principles can guide decision-making. Particular emphasis was placed on placing the dignity of the person, service to others, and the common good at the heart of institutional work.
